After studying acting at Seattle's Cornish College of the Arts, he landed his first major film role, playing a displaced Neanderthal in Encino Man (1992). That same year, his star was on the rise with teens after appearing in School Ties with an ensemble cast of other up-and-coming Hollywood actors, including Matt Damon and Chris O'Donnell. He scored again with young audiences in With Honors (1994).
Since then, Fraser's career choices have been anything but predictable. His varied film résumé includes the broad comedies George of the Jungle (1997) and Blast from the Past (1999), the big-budget adventure of The Mummy and its sequels, and the nuanced drama of Gods and Monsters (1998) and Crash (2004).
