Before Dick became Rob, however, he'd already worked as a radio announcer and TV game show host and won a Tony Award for his star turn in the Broadway musical "Bye Bye Birdie." Born Dec. 13, 1925, in West Plains, Mo., Van Dyke -- a self-professed "people pleaser" -- would conquer every medium over the course of his decades-long career.
