Born in London on May 14, 1961, Tim Roth studied at the Camberwell College of Arts and made his film debut in the1982 TV movie Made in Britain, for which he garnered critical acclaim for his portrayal of a troubled skinhead.Roth followed this early success with roles in Mike Leigh's Meantime and Stephen Frears's The Hit. Known for his talent with accents and his ability to slip seamlessly into characters, Roth received international attention in 1990 after starring in Vincent & Theo as well as Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead. He then caught the eye of director Quentin Tarantino, who cast him in Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.
Roth received an Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe nomination and a British Academy Award for his role as the campy villain in Rob Roy (1995). Other notable films include Everyone Says I Love You, Planet of the Apes and Silver City.
