Despite his achievements in film, Plummer -- born Dec. 13, 1929, in Toronto -- remains a stage actor first and foremost. Over a long theatrical career on both sides of the Atlantic, Plummer has established himself as one of the premier Shakespearean actors of his time through performances in such roles as Iago in a 1982 production of "Othello."
Memorable films for Plummer include The Man Who Would Be King, Murder by Decree and the Russell Crowe-starred The Insider (1999) and A Beautiful Mind (2001). Showing no signs of flagging with age, Plummer continues to make high-profile films today, including George Clooney's Syriana (2005) and The Lake House (with Sandra Bullock).
