Born March 4, 1955, in Saumur, France, Dominique Pinon has appeared in nearly 100 film and TV productions since his debut in 1980's La Découverte, but it is his for his work in just three -- the Jean-Pierre Jeunet/Marc Caro collaborations Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children and the Jeunet solo effort Alien: Resurrection -- that he is most well-known.With rubbery features that lend themselves perfectly to the surreal universe of the films of Jeunet and Caro, Pinon has captivated audiences with his idiosyncratic portrayal of characters such as the circus performer in The City of Lost Children.
In addition to the films of Jeunet (including A Very Long Engagement and Amelie) and Caro, Pinon has appeared in numerous other French and international productions, including Diva (1981), The Return of Martin Guerre (1982) and Roman Polanski's Frantic (1988).
