This versatile actor-director was born Jan. 5, 1946, in Los Angeles and studied drama in California and New York. Woody Allen cast her in his Broadway play "Play It Again, Sam" in 1970, as well as in 1972's movie version.Over the next years, Keaton appeared in several more Allen films, most notably Annie Hall, a thinly veiled recap of her relationship with Allen. She won several awards for Annie Hall, including a Best Actress Oscar.
Keaton has split her time between acting and directing since the late 1980s but still gets the most attention for her bittersweet comedic roles, such as 2003's well-received Something's Gotta Give. Her other notable films include Crimes of the Heart (1986), Baby Boom (1987), the 1991 remake of Father of the Bride and The First Wives Club (1996).
