Jeff Bridges was born Dec. 4, 1949, in Los Angeles, Calif. After appearances on his father Lloyd's TV series "Sea Hunt," Bridges made his big-screen debut in Halls of Anger, in the first of many troubled-youth roles.He wowed critics with his second film, The Last Picture Show, and received his first Oscar nod (as Best Supporting Actor). Additional nominations were earned for Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Starman and The Contender.
Bridges was a fixture in counterculture cinema, but his range has also encompassed drama (Fat City), fantasy (King Kong), sci-fi (Tron), romance (The Mirror Has Two Faces) and many cult favorites (Rancho Deluxe, Cutter's Way, The Fisher King). He teamed with his brother Beau in The Fabulous Baker Boys and with his dad in the biopic Tucker. The success of Seabiscuit (2003) gave Bridges a recent career revival.
