But Pegg's equally adept talents as a writer propelled his career into a whole new realm with the release of the cult-hit zombie spoof Shaun of the Dead (2004). He reteamed with co-writer Edgar Wright and actor Nick Frost for the follow-up action farce Hot Fuzz (2007).
Pegg's popularity also helped him score the coveted role of iconic Enterprise crew member Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the big-screen remake of Star Trek (2009).
