Soon after Vaidehi (Manisha Koirala) marries Raghuvir (Jackie Shroff), she becomes pregnant. Desperate to escape her unhappy marriage, she runs away with her unborn child. But pursued by her chauvinistic husband, Vaidehi must enlist the help of a bride-to-be (Mahima Chaudhury), a theatre artist (Madhuri Dixit) and a village midwife (Rekha) to keep her baby. Rajkumar Santoshi directs this inspirational film with music by Anu Malik.
