Don Diego (Alain Delon), a newly appointed governor in South America, finds his country in the grip of the ruthless and corrupt Col. Huerta (Stanley Baker). Feigning weakness, Diego disguises himself as the legendary Zorro and fights to free his people. Huerta's soldiers prove to be no match for the mysterious hero, who is aided by Brother Francisco (Giampiero Albertini) and the lovely Countess Hortensia (Ottavia Piccolo).
