Teenager Zoe (Vanessa Zima) feels isolated in her Detroit suburb, with its lily-white surroundings and sterile atmosphere. So, Zoe convinces two friends to join her on a cross-country road trip, where she hopes to find a link to her Cherokee roots. Drifting aimlessly westward, the trio encounters an older English woman who's been wandering through the West on a quest to scatter her mother's ashes.
