Diane Keaton directs this drama about a brother and a sister (William McNamara and Reese Witherspoon) who befriend an epileptic named Alice (Patricia Arquette) and decide the girl needs to be saved. Alice's father thinks her seizures are a sign that she's under the power of the devil, so he relegates her to living in the barn. With the siblings' help, Alice discovers a kinder, more forgiving world.
