After serving a sentence for a murder she didn't commit, Nikki Finn (Madonna) is ordered out of town, but the ex-con won't go until she's cleared her name. Wealthy lawyer Loudon Trott (Griffin Dunne) has been sent by his boss to make sure she gets on the bus, but the unpredictable parolee changes the plans. Soon, the two are caught up in a string of adventures and Loudon finds himself torn between the flamboyant Nikki and his uptight fiance.
