After losing his leg in World War II, an emotionally barren Billy Coleman (Doug McKeon) returns home to live with his grandfather (Wilford Brimley). As he heals his body and mind, he relives his childhood by raising a pair of coonhounds and teaching a young boy how to hunt. Lisa Whelchel (best known as Blair Warner from TV's "The Facts of Life") co-stars in this continuing saga based on the award-winning book by Wilson Rawls.
