Waveriders
(2008)|
This captivating documentary traces the history of modern surfing and its unlikely beginnings with an Irish immigrant to Hawaii. In the early 20th century, George Freeth taught Hawaiian kings to surf, breathing new life into an old Irish pastime. In addition to showcasing spectacular footage of massive 50-foot waves off the Irish coast, the film takes viewers on a big-wave journey through Hawaii and Southern California.
