In director George Sherman's Western, Jeff Chandler plays Major Howell Brady, an Army officer with orders to help the Cavalry quell an uprising by the local Kiowa tribe. But his commander quickly opposes him as he tries to implement a government-backed plan to recruit Seminoles for their side. And there's another wrinkle: He also falls in love with the widow (Maureen O'Hara) of a captain believed to have died in battle. But is he gone for sure?
