Dark Portals: The Chronicles of Vidocq

The famous detective Vidocq (Gerard Depardieu) has disappeared in 19th-century Paris, and the police are certain that his archenemy, a wily assassin known as the Alchemist, is to blame. When their investigation leads nowhere, Vidocq's dedicated but inexperienced assistant, Etienne (Guillaume Canet), believes he can pick up his mentor's trail. But as Etienne explores the city's underground, it's unclear whether he's the hunter or the hunted.
