Charlie Chaplin plays a street-smart con artist in this silent film -- Hollywood's first feature-length comedy. Charlie woos a country girl named Tillie (Marie Dressler), convincing her to take her father's money and run off to the city with him. Once there, Charlie leaves Tillie and goes back to his old sweetie (Mabel Normand). Charlie eventually returns, but his wandering eye sends everyone into an uproarious pie-tossing frenzy.
