After the death of their friend renowned painter Jean-Baptiste Emmerich (Jean-Louis Trintignant), a collection of past and present friends and lovers reunites to take the train from Paris to Limoges for his funeral. While misery usually loves company, this group finds that time hasn't healed their wounds when painful personal conflicts arise in this reflective drama from director Patrice Chéreau (Queen Margot).
