When a stranger asks Samuel Mudd (Warner Baxter) to set his broken leg, the doctor has no idea that he's treating the infamous assassin John Wilkes Booth, on the run for shooting Abraham Lincoln. But the fateful meeting earns Mudd a life sentence for treason. Based on a true story, this classic film by John Ford -- said to be one of the director's favorites -- shows how Mudd endured, and overcame, his brutal treatment at the hands of his captors.
