One of legendary director John Ford's final films, this dramatic Western stars James Stewart as Ransom Stoddard, a good-hearted senator who returns to his dusty hometown for the funeral of small-time outlaw Tom Doniphon (John Wayne). In flashbacks, Stoddard tells the story of how, with Doniphon's help, he rose to political prominence after killing feared gunslinger Liberty Valance (Lee Marvin) in a showdown. Vera Miles co-stars.
