At the onset of World War I, American heiress Angela (Mary Pickford) is pursued by two suitors -- French Jules (Raymond Hatton) and German Karl (Jack Holt). After each man returns to his homeland to fight, Angela journeys to Europe, where she finds herself at the intersection of love and war. The plot twists come fast and furious in this silent epic, which pairs the titanic talents of screen icon Pickford with legendary director Cecil B. DeMille.
