The Lathe of Heaven

A young man named George Orr (Bruce Davison) believes that his dreams influence reality, though only he is aware of the resulting changes. He visits a dream therapist, who -- against George's will -- uses a device that manipulates the dreams for his own purposes. The doctor leaves posthypnotic suggestions in George's mind that have unintended effects, including an alien invasion and the possible destruction of mankind.
