Pregnant and single, Jane Fosset (Leslie Caron, who won a Best British Actress BAFTA Award) takes a room in a shoddy London boardinghouse inhabited by an assortment of oddballs. Soon, she begins a relationship with Toby (Tom Bell), a struggling young writer who lives on the first floor. With time, Jane finds herself enfolded in the arms of this quirky community of characters ... but she still faces the dilemma of what to do with her unborn baby.
