William Wyler's sparkling 1930s comedy stars Margaret Sullavan as Luisa Ginglebusher, a young woman who is plucked from an orphanage to become an usherette. At the theatre, she meets Dr. Max Sporum (Herbert Marshall), a lawyer who pretends to be her husband. Luisa wants to help Max get more clients, but instead begins to collect numerous admirers.
