This 1972 production combines live action and animation to bring to life one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved tales as vainglorious Emperor Klockenlocher (Cyril Ritchard) is conned into spending a fortune on a wardrobe made of invisible fabric. Imogene Coca supplies the voice of Princess Jane, the emperor's daughter, in the tune-filled special, with narration by Danny Kaye (who famously portrayed Andersen 20 years earlier).
