After a fruitless sales meeting, Julie Styron (Stockard Channing) receives word that the CEO is flying in to meet her. Panicked over the state of her employment, she calls a headhunter and fires her assistant, Paula Murphy (Julia Stiles). The two women nonetheless end up in the hotel bar, sharing drinks and secrets -- but as the evening progresses, their relationship becomes a complex battle of power, authority and wit.
