When her husband dies, Charlene (Bonnie Bedelia) starts afresh with her two children, Milly (Lucy Deakins) and Louis (Fred Savage), in a new neighborhood. The kids face the usual problems that come with moving: adjusting to their surroundings, facing bullies and trying to make friends. Only their neighbor, an autistic boy (Jay Underwood) who believes he can fly, reaches out to them with a genuine and open heart, changing their lives forever.
