After moving from New York to Florida with his buddy Barney (Paul Rodriguez) in tow, Jake (Michael O'Keefe) tries his best to tame his coarseness and win the heart of a pretty teacher named Olivia (Lucinda Jenney). At first, Jake's focus is on helping Olivia raise enough money to keep her struggling school afloat. His mission changes, however, when he finds out that she's poised to become an heiress -- but only if she finds a cultured husband.
