From directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger (The Red Shoes), this production of Jacques Offenbach's opera features Robert Rounseville as the thrice-heartbroken poet Hoffman, who relives his doomed love affairs in a series of flashbacks. Dancer Moira Shearer plays the role of Stella, Jane Ashton choreographs the ballet sequences, and the score features the legendary Sir Thomas Beecham conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
