In this brooding drama from Diva director Jean-Jacques Beineix, Gérard Depardieu stars as a stevedore named Gerard whose sister slits her throat after being raped. Now, Gerard cannot rest until he finds her attacker. Surrounded by sketchy characters -- including his alcoholic brother (Dominique Pinon), plus a hedonistic playboy (Vittorio Mezzogiorno) and his glamorous sister (Nastassja Kinski) -- Gerard doesn't have to look far for suspects.
