Robert Altman directs this portrait of 1950s actor and sex symbol James Dean, which was made just two years after his death. The black-and-white film includes clips from East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant as well as snapshots of Dean's life both backstage and prior to his stardom. Interviews with Dean's family and friends help viewers see beyond the cool rebel image into the true nature of the American legend.
