Johnny Hawks (Kirk Douglas), a cocky cowboy notorious throughout the Oregon territories (he's known as "The Indian Fighter"), is summoned by Capt. Trask (Walter Abel), commander of the local fort. There's trouble brewing with the neighboring Sioux tribe, and Trask needs Hawks's special talents. Hawks visits the tribe's chief to negotiate a peace settlement and falls for his striking daughter, Onahti (Elsa Martinelli). Talk about trouble!
