The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser

  (1975)
Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle
Acclaimed director Werner Herzog weaves this drama based on the legend of Kaspar Hauser, a teenage boy who mysteriously appeared on the streets of Nuremberg in 1828, barely able to speak or walk and apparently held in solitary confinement his entire life. Herzog's interpretation of the legend is in keeping with his usual metaphoric style, as the story focuses primarily on the effects of integrating the young misfit into German society.
