Burt Reynolds plays Ed Earl Dodd, a sheriff who's more interested in keeping open his town's most popular business -- the "Chicken Ranch," a notorious Texas whorehouse -- than in carrying out the letter of the law. Dolly Parton is Mona Stangely, the whorehouse madam who also happens to hold the sheriff's interest. Together, they battle publicity-seeking politicians and the Moral Majority to save the whorehouse in this rollicking musical comedy.
