During the 1988 presidential race, fictional candidate Jack Tanner (Michael Murphy) is a nice guy who doesn't have the killer instinct of fellow democrats Michael Dukakis or Jesse Jackson. Regardless, Tanner forges ahead with the help of his campaign manager (Pamela Reed), aide (Daniel Jenkins) and daughter (Cynthia Nixon).
