Storefront Hitchcock

  (1997)
Director Jonathan Demme gets to the core of singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock's great strength -- his solo acoustic performances -- in this sparsely set, simply lit concert film in which the musician is shot playing before a small audience in a vacant Manhattan storefront, his back to the window. In addition to his songs, the film features Hitchcock's legendary between-song, free-floating, surreal monologues that focus on pop culture.
