Before integration, two professional baseball leagues existed in the United States. The Negro League's stars -- pitcher Satchel Paige (Delroy Lindo) and catcher Josh Gibson (Mykelti Williamson) -- are great friends on and off the field. But their bond gets tested when word comes that African-Americans will be drafted into the majors. Who will get the call: Paige, Gibson or Jackie Robinson (Blair Underwood)?
