Based on John Le Carré's best-selling espionage novel, Smiley's People delves into the dark world of preeminent British secret agent George Smiley (Alec Guinness). Emerging from retirement for one final shot at catching Russian archenemy Karla (Patrick Stewart), Smiley traverses Europe, encounters poker-faced double agents and ultimately calls Karla's bluff. The series also stars Michel Lonsdale, Mario Adorf, Michael Gough and Beryl Reid.
