Reclusive and misanthropic after being falsely accused of a crime he didn't commit, Silas Marner (Ben Kingsley) holes up in the village of Raveloe to live the rest of his life in miserly solitude. But his plans go awry when a local thug (Jonathan Coy) steals all his money and an orphaned child shows up on his doorstep. Jim Broadbent also stars in this "Masterpiece Theatre" production based on the classic novel by George Eliot.
