The compelling story recounts the voyage of a German ship from Mexico to Bremerhaven, Germany, prior to World War II; it's a stormy journey fraught with anti-semitism, unrequited love, xenophobia and dissatisfied lives. The film was Vivien Leigh's final screen appearance.
