Schultze (Refuge Ruggle) has spent his whole life in a small town in Saxon-Anhalt, East Germany. His measured life (parsed by work, visits to the pub, the dole, folk music and fishing) is interrupted when he and his friends Manfred (Karl Fred Mueller) and Jürgen (Harold Warmbrunn) are made, well, obsolete. As ennui farcically descends, Schultze discovers a life on the other side of the hill. Directed by Michael Schorr.
