Commitment-phobic bride-to-be Maggie Carpenter (Julia Roberts) has already left three men at the altar when sexist newspaper columnist Ike Graham (Richard Gere) writes an offensive, inaccurate story about her. The only way the writer can keep his job is to interview the so-called "Runaway Bride" in person. But as Maggie prepares for her fourth wedding attempt, Graham discovers what her beaus see in her -- and risks becoming the next groom.
