In the humorous opener to Season 6, barrister Claude Erskine-Brown (Julian Curry) is served a live mouse at a restaurant, and Rumpole (Leo McKern) must defend the pompous chef on environmental health charges. In the season finale, Rumpole is asked to prosecute Erskine-Brown, who has been accused of theft. And always on hand to drive our hero mad is his long-suffering wife, Hilda (Marion Mathie).
