After relocating from her posh, palatial estate to the relatively poor village of Avonlea young Sara Stanley (Sarah Polley) must come to terms with a lower income, hard work and dealing with new kids. She butts heads with crotchety aunts, local bullies and stray criminals in this family-friendly TV series set in the early 1900s, based on the works of Anne of Green Gables author Lucy Maud Montgomery.
