Kiranjit (Aishwarya Rai), a young Indian woman, falls in love with Deepak (Naveen Andrews), an expatriate living in London. She abandons plans for college and marries Deepak -- and spends the next several years suffering his physical, mental and sexual abuse. Her attempt at retaliation lands her in jail for murder, but a group of activists works to tell her story and win her freedom. Miranda Richardson co-stars in this powerful true story.
