This heartwrenching tale chronicles the slow demise of Buffy Koenig (Kathleen Beller), a terminally ill cancer patient undergoing a series of futile treatments. Always by her side during the relentless chemotherapy, surgical and radiation procedures is her devoted doctor (Marsha Mason), who suffers through her own journey of grief. Performances by Mason and Beller earned director Jerome Hellman's pathos-drenched film two Golden Globe nominations.
