It's 1969, and the Apollo 11 crew is set to blast off to the moon. Science teacher Washington Bellamy (Ted Danson) gets the oddball idea to take his young son on a cross-country road trip that will end when their car registers the same mileage as the distance between the Earth and the moon. Back home, Washington's wife (Mary Steenburgen) struggles with her claustrophobic fear -- until the moon landing inspires the whole family.
