Carlo Carlei's film chronicles the amazing journey of the man who would come to be known as Padre Pio (portrayed by Sergio Castellitto), from the holy visions of his childhood through his powerful prophecy and adult ministry. The Vatican canonized Padre Pio as a saint in 2002.
