While preparing for the birth of her first child, Charlene (Brooke Shields) spends most of her time supporting her Italian husband, Vincenzo (Pierfrancesco Favino), who has dreams of making it as an artist in New York. Complications erupt when Vincenzo's wife from the old country (Maria Grazia Cucinotta) shows up on Charlene's doorstep with her two children in tow, and a home shopping magnate (Chevy Chase) tries his best to exploit both women.
